HENRY MANCINI (1924-1994)
Mr. Mancini was born in Ohio but raised in Pennsylvania.
As a boy, he learned how to play the flute and piccolo. Later, he
studied piano and composition at the Julliard School of Music in New York
City. This talented man went on to work at Universal studios from
1952-1958, learning every aspect of film-making that a composer would need
to know. He has collaborated on, or composed for, more than 200 films.
He is equally gifted in many styles, marches, pops, jazz, etc.
Many people associate Mr. Mancini
with the ever popular Pink Panther.
This movie, written in 1964, is about a detective who tries to track
down the stolen diamond called the pink panther. (When you peer into
the diamond, supposedly you can see the cartoon character within it.
That's how the diamond got the name.)
